About this Classroom Training
The global energy sector is undergoing a profound transformation as governments and industries seek reliable, low-carbon energy solutions to meet rising electricity demand, strengthen energy security, and achieve ambitious net-zero commitments. While renewable energy continues to expand rapidly, many countries are increasingly recognising nuclear power as an essential component of a balanced and resilient energy mix. In particular, Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) are emerging as one of the most promising technologies for the future of clean energy, attracting significant investment, policy support, and commercial interest worldwide.
Driven by advances in reactor technology, enhanced safety features, flexible deployment options, and the potential for lower capital costs, SMRs are creating new opportunities for power generation, industrial decarbonisation, and remote energy supply. Countries across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North America are actively evaluating nuclear programmes and SMR deployment strategies to address future energy challenges.
This comprehensive 5-day programme provides participants with a practical and strategic understanding of modern nuclear power plants and the rapidly evolving SMR landscape. The participants will be exposed to the fundamental principles of nuclear reactor technology, reactor physics, fuel cycles, safety systems, waste management, environmental considerations, licensing frameworks, and international legal obligations. Participants will also explore SMR technologies, commercial development pathways, financing models, siting considerations, and future industry trends through real-world case studies, simulations, calculation exercises, and group discussions. By combining technical fundamentals with commercial, regulatory, and strategic perspectives, participants will be equipped with the knowledge required to understand, evaluate, and participate in the next generation of nuclear energy developments.
This course will be delivered face-to-face over 5-day sessions, comprising of 8 hours per day, 1 hour lunch and 2 breaks of 15 minutes per day. Course Duration: 32.50 hours in total, 32.50 CPD points. Maximum number of participants: 25
