About this Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT)

This VILT course has been designed to provide business developers, strategists and investors with an accessible yet comprehensive understanding of the different aspects that combine to create successful offshore wind projects.

Compared to wind onshore, offshore wind projects are lengthy, expensive and have different risk factors, from the infrastructures required to the project development and installation processes involved.

This VILT course is intended to help participants understand the offshore wind technologies, trends, processes and financial return and risk considerations involved in project development. Explanations are presented in clear, business-friendly language accessible to non-engineers and illustrated with reference to up-to-the-minute international best practices and examples. Emerging and disruptive technologies such as floating wind and integrations with hydrogen production are explained and placed into their market context. For a valuable, up-to-the-minute and independent introduction to this fast-growing sector, this VILT course provides participants with a unique learning opportunity.

Upon completion of this VILT course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the essential offshore wind farm components and installation processes
  • Understand how offshore wind technology differs from that utilised onshore
  • Assess the challenges in operating and maintaining an offshore wind farm
  • Learn the status of floating wind and evaluating how it will change the industry
  • Identify the key technology and technology integration trends that are emerging
  • Discover the key delivery risks at various stages in a project’s life
  • Quantify the key drivers of financing and financial return in offshore wind projects
  • Identify the policy and market trends which are essential to consider in forward planning
  • Assess which markets and geographies offer the greatest growth potential

The VILT course is intended for professionals who are business developers, project planners / managers, stakeholder managers, financial and risk analysts, investors, and market analysts. These professionals include:

  • Renewable power project developers
  • Wind power developers
  • Wind turbine and component vendors
  • Offshore installation and EPC companies
  • Offshore construction vessel owners
  • Transmission grid operators
