About this Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) 

Production System Optimization (PSO) is the process of maximising value in an existing production system by making changes in the short- and medium-term. This Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) course looks at an integrated way to production systems – from reservoir to wells to facilities. The course applies a structured approach to understand and analyse the production system, with the objective to identify bottlenecks and optimization opportunities. The PSO process as explained in this course, comprises of the following steps:

  1. The four pillars of measurement: Selection, sizing maintenance and calibration
  2. Cycles of surveillance (PSO reviews)
  3. Requirements of optimization (e.g. Limit Diagrams)
  4. Getting opportunities implemented (e.g. PSO economics)

The above steps are supported by obtaining insights from the use of the “Paint the Picture”, Limit Diagram, PSO economics and group dynamics.

 

This VILT will be delivered online in 5 half-day sessions comprising 4 hours per day, with 2 breaks of 10 minutes per day.

Course Duration: 5 half-day sessions, 4 hours per session (20 hours in total).

On completion of this VILT course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand and manage the Production System Optimization (PSO) process
  • Run an effective Production System Optimization (PSO) Review
  • Understand the concept of Limit Diagrams, Operational Envelopes and the basics of PSO economics
  • Improve integration between the various disciplines through structured PSO reviews

This VILT course is intended for production technologists & engineers, petroleum engineers, reservoir engineers, production geologists, facility engineers, production supervisors, production operators, and production programmers.

Note: It is highly recommended that the participants should come from at least a mix of the above listed disciplines.

This VILT will be delivered online in 5 half-day sessions comprising 4 hours per day, with 2 breaks of 10 minutes per day.

Course Duration: 5 half-day sessions, 4 hours per session (20 hours in total).

Your expert course leader has more than 36 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He gained a broad experience in Petroleum Engineering, with a good knowledge of the integrated production system from subsurface, wells and surface.

He has had assignments in Production Technology, R&D, Production Chemistry, Rock Mechanics and Reservoir Engineering cEOR, with a proven track record in technology screening, development and deployment, field development planning, conceptual well design and Production System Optimization (PSO) of gas and oil fields as well as preparing Well, Reservoir & Facility Management (WRFM) strategies and plans. He had also worked on assignments in NAM and did fieldwork in Oman, Gabon and Shell Nigeria.

He is a skilled workshop facilitator. He discovered his passion for teaching following an assignment in Shell Learning. During his time in Shell, he developed and taught technical courses to Shell professionals via blended learning. He has a BSc in Chemical Engineering and an MSc in Physical Chemistry.
