Hydrogen is gaining momentum as a critical energy source for enabling the global transition to a low-carbon future. However, most hydrogen today is produced from fossil fuels through processes that generate high carbon emissions. Integrating carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies with hydrogen production can help reduce emissions and unlock hydrogen's potential as a clean energy carrier.

Furthermore, the application of hydrogen as an alternative future fuel has become the primary objective of most governments for achieving net zero emissions within a short period of time. Large-scale production of 'Blue Hydrogen' from fossil fuels through reforming or gasification processes makes it possible to achieve this.

This course will provide details of blue hydrogen production technological basis and the way it will be integrated with carbon capture facilities, locking away the captured CO2 into geological storage sites permanently. It will also offer a full picture of the complex blue H2-CCS value chain from the source of H2 production to end-users, as well as the required processes in CCS.

Examples will be drawn from current projects, including steam methane reforming (SMR) integrated with CCS in the US and around the world. Key terminologies, metrics, and concepts will be explained in a language accessible to commercial energy companies and other involved professionals.

This course will be delivered face-to-face over 3-day sessions, comprising of 8 hours per day, 1 hour lunch and 2 breaks of 15 minutes per day. Course Duration: 24 hours in total, 24 CPD points. Maximum number of participants: 25
