About this Classroom Training

Waste generation increases daily as populations grow and economies develop. Traditionally, waste disposal has relied on landfilling, leading to greenhouse emissions and other pollutions. Meanwhile, our energy needs are rising. An innovative solution addressing both issues can be implemented by transforming waste into electricity, fuels, and heat through advantageous Power Purchase Agreements. Converting waste to energy is the most sustainable and renewable approach to reduce fossil fuel reliance. Waste-to-energy technology approach decreases landfilled waste and mitigates pollution, making it a key component of integrated waste management worldwide.

This 4-day course provides a broad introduction to waste-to-energy technologies, including principles, processes, equipment, and real-world cases. The trainer will discuss waste feedstocks that hold potential energy, comparing incineration, gasification, anaerobic digestion, and landfill gas recovery benefits, limitations, and applications. Environmental and economic considerations of developing projects will also be addressed.

The training provides extensive insight into best practices, including waste conditioning, direct combustion, gasification, biogas production and use, state-of-the-art landfills with electricity generation, and converting agricultural waste into combined heat and power. The course encompasses municipal incineration plants with high-tech components, flue gas cleaning systems, and details on sustainable, environmentally-based processes.

A thorough evaluation of the differences between waste dumping and incineration, along with a comprehensive assessment of their economic and environmental impacts, will be discussed. Additionally, there has been an in-depth scrutiny of the financial viability associated with converting industrial waste into energy, which will be highlighted in this training session. Participants will grasp terminology and technology to comprehend key activities proactively. A complete understanding provides holistic appreciation and an excellent foundation for efficient inter-departmental and supplier collaboration. Participants attending this course will gain a comprehensive understanding to move forward into waste-to-energy.

This course will be delivered face-to-face over 4-day sessions, comprising of 8 hours per day, 1 hour lunch and 2 breaks of 15 minutes per day. Course Duration: 32 hours in total, 32 CPD points. Maximum number of participants: 20

The best course I have ever attended. Not a boring second.

    Sales Manager, HSS Australia.

While undergoing my university engineering education, lectures were filled with theoretical explanations that were difficult to grasp and lacked practical application. However, in this seminar, everything is explained clearly, and it all seems so easy to understand!

Chief Engineer, Energy Conservation Centre of Thailand.

I am grateful to acknowledge his masterful knowledge transfer to the engineering professionals of the Dominican Corporation of Electricity and the State Council of Sugar.

Senior Executive of CDE, Dominican Republic.

One of the best lecturers at HTW, providing useful hints and being highly practical-oriented, particularly in working out a real project.

HTW University of Technology and Economy, Berlin, Germany.

What I found most useful was the essential knowledge of the power and electricity sector, encompassing technologies, terminology, economics, new advanced technology, and the instructor's in-depth experience.
