About this Classroom Training
Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) are advanced energy management system that aggregates and coordinates the operation of solar panels, wind turbines, battery storage systems, and demand response units. These smaller, decentralised resources are interconnected and managed through a centralised platform, enabling them to function collectively as a single, flexible power plant. VPPs are designed to optimise energy production, balance supply and demand, enhance grid stability, and provide valuable services to energy markets. The operational mechanism of a VPP involves real-time data collection, advanced analytics for optimisation, and dynamic resource dispatching to meet energy demands efficiently. VPPs also integrate seamlessly with existing grid infrastructure and comply with regulatory frameworks at local, national, and international levels.
This 5-day course offers an in-depth exploration of VPPs in the context of current market trends, such as the rising demand for renewable energy and the technological advancements facilitating their integration. Participants will delve into the definition and operational mechanisms of VPPs, their role within generation portfolios, and the associated information technology challenges. This training course will also cover economic valuation methods for VPPs and strategies for building organisations that effectively support these resources. Targeted at utility executives, planners, generation developers, regulators, and professionals in environmental sustainability and legal fields, this course emphasises the interconnectedness of various elements in the energy transition. By understanding these complexities and linkages, participants will be better equipped to make informed decisions that drive successful outcomes in this transformative journey toward a sustainable energy future.
This course will be delivered via face to face over 5-day, comprising of 6 hours 30 minutes per day, 1 hour lunch and 2 breaks of 15 minutes per day. Course Duration: 32.30 hours in total, 32.30 CPD points.
