About this Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT)

This 3 half-day Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) interactive course will equip you to understand and apply a range of standards and tools that can shape your company’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting requirements.

ESG issues and factors are playing a financially material role for companies today, especially in the energy sector. This VILT course is a foundation course that will provide participants with the base knowledge regarding ESG regulation and standards that can be used in preparing your organization’s ESG report.

Upon completion of this VILT course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand emerging regulatory developments across the globe (Europe, Asia, UK, US)
  • Explain insights into developments for ESG reporting in key industries
  • Comprehend voluntary and mandatory standards and regulations which are used to prepare an ESG report (ESG disclosures)
  • Apply on selected areas a range of ESG reporting standards and frameworks, including the SDGs and their indicators, GRI, TCFD, etc.
  • Understand real life cases on the preparation of ESG reports and disclosures
  • Understand key challenges associated with ESG data and disclosures

This VILT course is intended for accountants, finance, business sustainability executives and others who are involved in the ESG reporting cycle or those who broadly engaged in sustainability matters within a public or private company in the energy sector.

  • Intermediate

The VILT will be delivered online in 3 half-day sessions comprising 4 hours per day, including time for lectures, discussion, quizzes and short classroom exercises.

Course Duration: 3 half-day sessions, 4 hours per session (12 hours in total).

Your expert course leader is an experienced educator and researcher based in Denmark and specializing in International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) and other international accounting and auditing issues.

Since finalizing her Ph.D. in auditing, she has carried out research on the development of public sector accounting at the global level and delivers training for various public sector entities on International Standards of Auditing (ISA) as well as on the interpretation and application of IPSAS.

She previously spent 3 years in Japan teaching and researching emerging accounting and auditing issues, and she also worked for a United Nations agency for eight years. Recently, she has been expanding her work into the area of companies reporting on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), integrated reporting practices and materiality assessments of CSR reports.
