About this training

This 3-day course provides comprehensive training on emissions management in the oil and gas industry. Through 15 practical modules, the course equips professionals with strategies and technologies to reduce greenhouse gases, methane, flaring, and fugitive emissions.

The highly informative training will cover the history of emissions testing, key terms and definitions, industry best practices, equipment types, oil and gas process improvements, current emission reduction technologies, future improvements, global and local regulations, measurement methods, and troubleshooting techniques.

Participants will learn about emissions from equipment like valves, compressors, flares, and instruments. With a focus on real-world mitigation strategies, the course covers leak prevention, equipment maintenance, sustainable development goals, and decarbonization pathways for organizations. Interactive elements like videos, case studies, and quizzes will enable participants to apply knowledge and upskill in emissions quantification and calculations.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Develop a generalized understanding of best practices and strategies for decarbonization and methane emissions reduction, testing, standards and related topics
  • Apply strategies for emissions reduction through leak detection, equipment upgrades, and process improvements
  • Analyse current industry codes, standards, and regulations for emissions reduction and reporting
  • Provide tolls to help producers comply with emerging carbon regulations and meet stakeholder expectations
  • Design and implement an emissions management framework aligned with sustainability goals and decarbonization mandates
  • Evaluate the feasibility and impact of emissions reduction technologies and solutions
  • Create an emissions mitigation roadmap and plan for improving the carbon footprint of oil and gas operations

The course is recommended for anyone who involved in emissions management i.e. detection, reduction, mitigation, calculation and quantification and management controls to comply with ESG requirements within the oil, gas and energy industries, including:

  • Facility engineers
  • HSE or environmental engineers
  • Operation engineers
  • Production engineers
  • Process engineers
  • Low carbon and emission reduction specialists
  • Instrumentation engineers
  • Reliability specialists
  • Maintenance specialists
  • Sustainability managers and specialists
  • Intermediate

Your expert course leader, who based is Canada with over 20 years of hands-on experience as a professional engineer in the oil and gas sector, he brings extensive practical knowledge in emissions reduction, sustainability management, and project execution for upstream and midstream facilities. He has worked on major natural gas projects across Western Canada and internationally, serving as the mechanical engineering discipline manager for multiple $50-60 million gas refrigeration, compression, dehydration and sweetening plants in British Columbia. The trainer’s expertise is further demonstrated through consulting roles supporting companies like Finning, Tangle Creek Energy and Arc Resources on methane emission calculations, reporting and regulatory compliance. In addition to this frontline industry background, he shares his applied knowledge by instructing carbon capture curriculum at SAIT and teaching seminars on provincial safety codes for oil and gas operations.

To further optimise your learning experience from our courses, we also offer individualized “One to One” coaching support for 2 hours post training. We can help improve your competence in your chosen area of interest, based on your learning needs and available hours. This is a great opportunity to improve your capability and confidence in a particular area of expertise. It will be delivered over a secure video conference call by one of our senior trainers. They will work with you to create a tailor-made coaching program that will help you achieve your goals faster.
