About this Training
Sustainability has always been a key consideration in the oil and gas industry. Adherence to health, safety and environmental regulations and increasing contributions to the societies in which they operate, form the core of existing sustainability strategies. However, the growing momentum towards the transition to low carbon is creating new requirements for sustainability strategies. Evolving government climate policies, direct public and shareholder activism, and changing investment strategies by major institutions are creating urgency for oil and gas companies to reduce emissions.
This foundational course aims to equip business leaders with basic awareness and knowledge of sustainability, and serves as a foundation for businesses seeking to build capabilities for the new aspirational economy, and develop a plan for their sustainability efforts. Participants are provided access to tools and resources to assess the current sustainability readiness and performance of their own businesses.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Distinguish key sustainability concepts and business trends, including the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, the circular economy and getting to net zero
- Understand the fundamentals of sustainability reporting, strategy and materiality with an emphasis on global frameworks, such as GRI, TCFD, ISSB and B-Corp
- Understand risks and opportunities in business and identify competitive advantages from sustainability
- Learn about integration to achieve business performance through measurement, disclosure, stakeholder relations and communication

Your expert course leader has over 31 years’ experience in environmental management, climate change and corporate sustainability. He developed the blueprint for GRI’s South Asia Charter on Sustainability Imperatives and championed development of India’s 1st environment product declaration (EPD) for steel sector. He also led, designed, developed, and implemented the CII-ITC Sustainability Awards during the year of 2007 to 2013. He participated in national and international expert groups, advisory bodies and technical committees for corporate sustainability, sustainability strategy, sustainability reporting and advisory. He has been heavily involved in sustainability policy and strategy, voluntary disclosures, non-financial reporting, ESG, business excellence, performance assessment, creating recognition platforms, environment management, climate change, LCA and CSR. He has conducted sustainability assessment and training session in companies such as Indian Oil Corporation, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, Tata Chemicals, Haldia Petrochemical, and others.
