About this Micro Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT)

When selecting a connection, the objective is the same as for the pipe body - to ensure that the connection has sufficient strength to withstand the loads applied to it throughout the lifetime of the well. However, in addition to maintaining mechanical integrity, the connection also has to remain leak tight in both directions when subjected to differential pressure. Operators have learned through numerous production tubing and casing leaks that this critical capability cannot be assured through mechanical design review alone and, this processes have been developed to assure the integrity of specific connection designs. This Micro VILT reviews the design characteristics of API and Premium connections and then explains the process of Connection Qualification using API 5C5 / ISO 13679.
