About this Micro Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT)
The overwhelming majority of the syllabus for IADC and IWCF Well Control classes focuses on the control and recovery from kicks taken on bottom whole drilling ahead. Statistical analysis indicates a significant number of kicks occur with the bit off bottom or with the bit out of hole.
This Micro VILT looks at the causes of these kicks and how they can be prevented before examining the options for controlling such kicks including the management of migrating gas using the “Volumetric Method”.
Where a drill string is still in the well, the focus is on returning the bit to bottom. The tools and techniques required to use the “Combined Volumetric-Stripping Technique” to get back to bottom while avoiding excessive pressure surges are explained in this course.
