EnergyEdge has pledged 50 trees to support the Trees for Tigers habitat restoration initiative at the Sungai Yu Ecological Corridor in Pahang — in partnership with the Malaysian Conservation Collective (MyCC) and the Singapore Wildcat Action Group (SWAG).
KUALA LUMPUR, 28 MAY 2026 — Fewer than 150 Malayan Tigers remain in the wild today, making the species one of the most critically endangered big cats on earth. In response to this urgent conservation challenge, EnergyEdge has pledged 50 trees towards the restoration of vital Malayan Tiger habitat at the Sungai Yu Ecological Corridor in Pahang, through the Trees for Tigers initiative run in partnership with the Malaysian Conservation Collective (MyCC) and the Singapore Wildcat Action Group (SWAG).
About Trees for Tigers — Habitat Restoration at Sungai Yu
Trees for Tigers is a habitat restoration initiative focused on the Sungai Yu Ecological Corridor in Pahang — the last remaining linkage connecting the two largest forests in Peninsular Malaysia. The corridor is of critical strategic importance for large mammals including the Malayan Tiger and the endangered Asian Elephant and provides a vital migration pathway for a wide range of other threatened wildlife: leopards, clouded leopards, dholes, sun bears, tapirs, sambar deer, gaur, and pangolins.
Without intervention, habitat fragmentation from deforestation and human encroachment continues to shrink the range available to tigers and the prey they depend on. Reforestation and corridor restoration — through initiatives like Trees for Tigers — help reconnect key habitats, aiding in the fight for the long-term survival of the Malayan Tiger. Each tree is raised and planted by a member of the local Bateq indigenous community.
The Conservation Awareness Programme That Started It All
EnergyEdge’s pledge followed a conservation awareness programme held at the company’s Kuala Lumpur office on 19 December 2025. The session featured a 30-minute briefing on the state of Malayan Tiger conservation in Malaysia, followed by a 50-minute screening of Malaysia’s Last Tigers — a documentary produced by RIMAU, a Malaysian wildlife conservation NGO.
The programme brought home the scale of the crisis facing Malaysia’s tigers and the practical ways in which organisations can contribute — from habitat restoration funding to field conservation support. The 50-tree pledge contributes to the Trees for Tigers initiative’s broader goal of planting 1,000 trees in 2026 — and EnergyEdge intends to keep building on it.
A Message from EnergyEdge’s Leadership
“Malaysia has fewer than 150 Malayan Tigers left in the wild. When that reality became clear to our team during the awareness session, we knew we had to act. This 50-tree contribution to the Sungai Yu Ecological Corridor is our first step — and the company hopes it will encourage other organisations in the energy sector to take theirs.”

Join the Movement: Trek for Tigers with MyCC
Trek for Tigers is a citizen conservation programme organised by MyCC. The programme invites members of the public to join anti-poaching surveillance walks through the Sungai Yu Ecological Corridor — contributing directly to tiger habitat protection by monitoring the forest, checking trail cameras, and reporting signs of illegal activity such as poaching and snaring.
Participants also have the opportunity to interact with the Bateq indigenous community, learn about local conservation challenges, and experience one of Malaysia’s most important forest ecosystems firsthand.
EnergyEdge encourages its staff and professional community to explore the programme and take advantage of special discounts, subject to terms and conditions. Interested participants may enquire with MyCC or SWAG and quote the referral code ENERGYEDGETREK to enjoy the offer.
