Establishing a Competency Management Methodology – Indonesia

Following the acquisition of a business unit from an international oil company, a National Oil Company (NOC) in Indonesia completed a major corporate transition in January 2018. With the integration finalised, the NOC aimed to develop and implement its own Competency Management System to support long-term capability development.

To support this transformation, EnergyEdge was engaged to deliver a customised workshop for department heads. The objective was to strengthen their foundational knowledge of competency management principles and to collaboratively define a path forward for the organisation.


Workshop Learning Outcomes

Participants in the programme achieved the following:

  • Explored the core concepts of competency frameworks and their role in capability development

  • Developed the steps required for competency profiling and assurance implementation

  • Applied tools and methodologies to build a practical competency assessment process

  • Proposed action plans to establish and embed a new Competency Management System across the organisation

Conclusion

This engagement provided the NOC with the foundation to build its own Competency Management System, customised to its organisational structure and operational needs following the acquisition.
