About this Classroom Training

As the maritime industry faces unprecedented pressure to decarbonise, ammonia is rapidly emerging as a game-changing low-carbon alternative to traditional marine fuels. With the UN's International Maritime Organisation (IMO) requiring ship owners to transition to cleaner fuels or face carbon taxes starting in 2028, the race for sustainable shipping solutions has accelerated dramatically.

This intensive 3-day program delivers the critical knowledge maritime professionals need to lead ammonia's integration into their fleets. Participants will master essential competencies including ammonia bunkering operations, Ship-to-Ship (STS) protocols, vessel design modifications, specialised crew training, and regulatory compliance.

Beyond technical implementation, this course provides strategic insights through competitive analysis of ammonia versus LNG, methanol, hydrogen, and biofuels, examining energy density, technical feasibility, and market adoption drivers. Participants will engage with real-world scenarios, risk assessments, and emergency response protocols that prepare them for the immediate challenges of ammonia adoption.

Whether participant is a naval architect designing the next generation of ammonia-powered vessels, a ship captain navigating new operational protocols, or a sustainability manager developing decarbonisation strategies, this course equips participants with the actionable knowledge to transform organisation's approach to maritime fuel.

This course will be delivered face-to-face over 3-day, comprising of 8 hours per day, 1 hour lunch and 2 breaks of 15 minutes per day. Course Duration: 19.50 hours in total, 19.50 CPD points. This course is also available in VILT.
