About this Training
This online, self-guided course is designed to provide practical and technical knowledge on the design and calculation of pressure vessels according to ASME Section VIII Division 1 for industrial applications.
With 120 hours of technical content, the course is intended for engineers, designers, freelancers, technicians, and students involved in the calculation, design, selection, manufacturing, safety, quality, and maintenance of systems and equipment in industrial processes.
The course is delivered 100% online and on-demand, allowing participants to study at their own pace. Instructor support will be provided through the consultation forum on the Virtual Campus. Participants will have one-year access to the platform to complete the course.
Course Outline
This module covers the main technical requirements and engineering practices needed to design pressure vessels according to ASME Section VIII Division 1.
Participants will learn how to define design conditions, select suitable materials, evaluate loading conditions, calculate joint efficiencies, size shells and heads for internal and external pressure, design nozzles and flanges, and verify internal and external components. The course also addresses the structural verification of vertical and horizontal vessels, including skirts, legs, saddles, cradles, wind loads, seismic loads, support design, and the use of calculation spreadsheets to validate thicknesses, stresses, and design configurations.
