About this Classroom Training

Adapting fossil power plants to the changing energy landscape is essential for staying competitive as renewable energy grows. This transition helps traditional power plants operate more flexibly, allowing them to integrate with intermittent renewable sources like wind and solar. Key improvements include faster load adjustments, quicker start-ups and shutdowns, and advanced grid balancing techniques. By adopting these strategies, power plants can support the increasing use of renewables while maintaining grid stability and reliable electricity supply.

This five-day course explores the operations, performance, and economic aspects of fossil power plants, focusing on flexible operations, reliability benchmarking, and life cycle cost (LCC) analysis. Participants will learn about the challenges and opportunities in modernising fossil power plants, benchmark performance against industry standards, and apply LCC analysis to optimise costs. The course blends theory with practical case studies, equipping participants with the skills to balance flexibility, efficiency, and cost in a changing energy market.

This course will be delivered face-to-face over 5-day, comprising of 8 hours per day, 1 hour lunch and 2 breaks of 15 minutes per day. Course Duration: 32.30 hours in total, 32.30 CPD points.
