About this Training

The "bowtie" name comes from the shape of the diagram, which resembles a bowtie, with the hazard/event in the middle and the causes on the left side and consequences on the right side. The diagram also includes barriers or controls on either side of the hazard/event. The bowtie analysis provides a visual representation of the relationship between hazards, causes, consequences, and barriers, making it easier to understand and communicate the risks associated with a particular event. It helps organizations identify gaps in their risk management strategies, assess the effectiveness of existing preventive and mitigating measures, and develop additional controls or actions to manage the risks effectively.

The objectives of this course are for you to understand the bowtie structure and the ingredients needed to create a successful and impactful bowtie. It will familiarise you with the structure and components of the bowtie with interactive scenario development.
