About this Micro Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT)

To select the correct strength of pipe, it is essential to identify the range of pressures and mechanical loads that may be experienced during the entire lifetime of the well. During the initial stages of pipe selection using manual calculations, the loads are considered separately - the pipe being selected based on its ability to tolerate burst and collapse loads independently of any axial load. This is often referred to as uniaxial design. Because the loads combine to generate stresses in the pipe, this has to be considered when performing the final selection of the pipe. This type of analysis is generally referred to as triaxial design. With the exception of NORSOK and the BSEE Well Containment Screening tool, the majority of Load Cases are specified by Operators.
