About this Training Course
Carbon capture, transportation, and storage (CCUS) represents one of the most promising pathways toward meaningful decarbonization in the energy transition landscape. This comprehensive 5-day technical training course, provides participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to design, implement, and manage CO₂ transportation systems.
The program covers the entire value chain from carbon capture technologies through transportation infrastructure to ultimate storage and utilization options. Through a concept-to-application approach, participants will explore real-world CCUS project development using industrial hub scenarios that reflect the complex integration challenges faced by today’s professionals. The curriculum balances technical engineering aspects, including pipeline design, flow assurance, and safety considerations, with essential regulatory frameworks, environmental impacts, and economic feasibility assessments.
As global carbon reduction initiatives accelerate and regulatory pressures mount, professionals equipped with specialized knowledge in CO₂ transportation systems will be increasingly valuable to organizations pursuing net-zero targets. This course provides participants with immediately applicable skills to support critical decarbonization projects and position themselves at the forefront of the energy transition movement.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the global outlook and drivers for CO₂ capture, transportation, and storage.
- Design CO₂ transportation systems, including pipelines and shipping, with technical and regulatory constraints in mind.
- Identify and manage CO₂ specification and impurity challenges.
- Apply flow assurance, technical safety, and ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) considerations in CO₂ transport projects.
- Propose and justify a CO₂ pipeline concept based on safety, cost, technical, and regulatory factors.
- Evaluate pipeline design, materials, and integrity management for new or repurposed infrastructure.
This course is designed for:
- Pipeline and subsea engineers
- Process engineers and flow assurance professionals
- Project managers and development engineers involved in CCUS
- Environmental engineers and sustainability professionals
- Regulators and policy advisors
- Professionals in energy transition, decarbonisation, and hydrogen sectors
- Intermediate
- Advanced
- Instructor-led presentations with real-world case studies
- Workshop-based team activities simulating a Project Engineering Team
- Hands-on exercises in CO₂ specification design and concept selection
- Interactive discussions and group problem-solving
- Daily concept application and progress presentations
- Final presentation and open forum for real-world challenge discussions
With over a decade of experience, your expert course instructor contributed to consulting studies, concept/feasibility, FEED, detail design, construction, and commissioning phases for multi-billion-dollar greenfield developments to small brownfield modifications, predominantly in pipelines (onshore and offshore) and subsea disciplines for gas production, low-carbon, and CCS projects.
He has also developed a track record of delivering project, economic and commercial outcomes from internal operator stakeholders and external consultants and service providers. He does this by driving a culture of performance and delivery of results from managing small study scope to FEEDs, as well as obtaining endorsement and consensus from these stakeholders and other project leaders.
He has a developed a reputation of individual high performance and fostering continuous improvement in his teams. Technically, he specialises in subsea and pipelines with in-depth knowledge of materials, mechanical, technical safety and flow assurance topics including buckling on-bottom roughness, span, 3-D solid and general spool / riser stress analysis.
His understanding of these engineering concepts combined with an in-depth knowledge of pipeline/subsea industry codes, standards and tools enables him to add value to all aspects of project development, including re-purposing of subsea assets for CCS. This includes practical understanding and risks associated with emerging streams around carbon dioxide and hydrogen pipeline transportation.
Key Skills
- Developing business acumen for front-end studies and commercial / economic feasibility of gas, CCS, hydrogen and renewable projects
- Specialises in the design and development of pipelines and subsea projects

I just started a few months ago in the field of gas transportation. The course gave me a lot of knowledge, especially in the workshops, on gas transport and also with CO₂. The lecturer was very clear and showed very good skills to hold the audience throughout the week.
Research Engineer, NATRAN R&I, France
Great training course. We cover most areas in a CCS project, and we have the opportunity to apply the theory to a hub example. Very comprehensive.
Flow Assurance Engineer, NATRAN R&I, France
I really learned a lot of things from this training and would recommend the formation.
Corrosion Research Engineer, NATRAN R&I, France
A comprehensive overview of the various topics that need to be explored when addressing the challenges of CO₂ transportation.
