About this training course
This 3-day technical course is designed to empower energy professionals with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the rapidly evolving emissions landscape. As global climate agreements tighten and enforcement from regulatory bodies authorities intensify, energy organizations must proactively implement effective emissions management programs to remain compliant and competitive.
This course addresses that need by providing a comprehensive exploration of key emissions regulations (EPA, API, ISO, AER, CER, DOT, ASEAN), leak detection and repair (LDAR) practices, certified low-leak technologies, and over 101 methods of emissions measurement. Participants will gain a robust understanding of emission sources across facility equipment (valves, compressors, pumps, flanged joints, etc.), the latest testing techniques, troubleshooting strategies, and performance-based implementation practices. The training also introduces emerging technologies and global best practices to help companies reduce methane and GHG emissions while enhancing safety and operational efficiency.
This training course is a vital opportunity for engineers, operations teams, HSE professionals, and maintenance specialists to future-proof their emissions strategies and contribute meaningfully to their organizations’ environmental and compliance goals.
After the completion of this training course, participants will be able to:
- Develop a generalized understanding of emissions testing, standards, and related topics
- Understand the leak detection and repair (LDAR) process
- Examine EPA, API, AER, DOT, CER, ASEAN rules and requirements and testing procedures
- Review the equipment used in mitigating emissions
- Identify regulations, emissions sources, equipment, and components of a LDAR program
- Evaluate testing equipment used in emissions management
- Assess the performance specifications for Federal and Local reference methods
The course is generally aimed at personnel who are involved in Emissions Management within the Oil, Gas & Energy Industries either upstream, midstream or downstream operations team members. This course will also greatly benefit the following groups but not limited to:
- Facility, Operations, Production, Process, Instrumentation engineers, technicians, technologists, and teams
- Reliability, Maintenance specialists, supervisors, Specialists and team members
- Operations engineer and operations support group
- Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) specialists and managers
- Basic
- Intermediate
The training course uses real life examples and case studies to explain the setup, preparation, implementation, and operational activities required to successfully complete detection and reducing emissions during operations from a safety perspective in avoiding a methane GHG leak, maintenance and enable cost savings.
This training will stimulate independent thinking, improve learning and allow discussion among participants.
Case Studies
The case studies proposed for this course will include:
- A group exercise to consider minimum requirement for emissions management for safety of a plant.
- Generic plan for the implementation of Methane and GHG Emissions requirements towards maintenance management system. Examples shown on various computer software systems.
- Implementation of “Emissions Management Plan” with examples for the Oil and Gas Industry.
Quizzes
Various quizzes can be expanded or arranged to suit the group/interests and topics covered but will generally include the following topics:
- 101 Emission monitoring methods, types and location where they are implemented successfully.
- Safety requirements within emissions management systems.
- Process methane and GHG hazards mitigation, applicable operations management tools components and applicable regulations.
