About this Training Course

The global transition toward clean energy is accelerating at an unprecedented pace, with offshore wind and solar fields at the forefront of this evolution. Projections indicate that by 2050, renewable energy will become the primary source for new electricity generation. This shift is driving ambitious wind farm construction projects in increasingly harsh offshore environments, particularly across major markets like China, India, and the United States.

Building and maintaining these sites requires specialized support, including Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs), Windfarm Installation Vessels (WIVs), and Jack-up Rigs. Because traditional Offshore Support Vessels (OSVs) are not designed for the unique requirements of wind and solar energy fields, a new generation of customized vessels is entering the market to meet rising demand.

Consequently, standard maritime contracts like SUPPLYTIME or TOWCON are no longer sufficient. This intensive 3-day course is designed to equip commercial and operational personnel from both the Owner and Charterer sides with the expertise needed for seamless, contention-free chartering management. Through real-life case studies and contract simulations, participants will master the complexities of risk allocation and dispute resolution to ensure profitable and sustainable operations.

Upon completion of this 3 full-day course and workshop exercises, the participants are expected to have learnt and enhanced their competency in one or more of the following aspects:

  • Develop the most appropriate type of Charterparty Form for CSOV and WIV in a given context.
  • Enhanced knowledge and expertise in the application of the latest IMO Regulations.
  • Gain knowledge of available solutions for developing an environmentally friendly Energy Sector.
  • Sharpened skills in editing and amending Standard Forms published by BIMCO, in the context of a specific windfarm project.
  • Learned strategic approach for managing risks, disputes, conflicts, and unexpected situations like wars, sanctions, and drafting of Force Majeure Events Clause.

The course is intended for Owners, Charterers, and Windfarm Field Operations Contractors, Commercial and Marketing Directors, Corporate Legal Counsels, Practicing Maritime Lawyers interested in CSOV Sectors, Fleet Managers and Superintendents, Operations Managers, Masters, Investment Analysts, and Renewables Credit Risk Managers of Financial Institutions, including Managers from Energy Companies and Organizations engaged in Offshore Renewable Energy Projects.

It is anticipated that the participants would have some basic understanding of Charterparty Forms for the Offshore Sector.

  • Intermediate
  • Advanced

This course utilizes real-life case studies, contract simulations, and expert-led discussions to explore the complexities of CSOV and WIV charterparty agreements. Participants will engage with interactive exercises and scenario-based workshops to deepen their understanding of maritime law, risk allocation, and operational challenges in offshore windfarm projects.
