Digital Learning & Industry Access for a Future-Ready Workforce

In July 2017, Brunei’s first polytechnic institution offering Level 5 Diploma programmes signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EnergyEdge. The aim: to support students and lecturers with access to global industry networks and digital learning technologies, bridging the gap between academic learning and professional readiness.

The collaboration enabled students and faculty to:

  • Connect with internationally recognised companies
  • Participate in online energy forums and professional discussions
  • Access curated technical content through a dedicated digital learning platform

This partnership aligned with the polytechnic’s vision to embed innovation and technology into teaching, learning, and career preparation.

Exploring Virtual Reality for Education

During the partnership launch and early engagements, EnergyEdge showcased the use of Virtual Reality (VR) in technical e-learning. The demonstration attracted strong interest from both academic staff and leadership.

The VR learning kits were seen as a natural complement to the institution’s ambition to innovate through technology. By visualising complex industrial settings and processes, VR has the potential to enhance understanding and engagement across multiple disciplines.

Conclusion

This early-stage collaboration served as a foundation for the polytechnic’s digital transformation goals—supporting both the academic and career development of students through access to global energy networks and emerging learning technologies.
