About this Training
This training program provides a practical and technical overview of hydrogen technologies, with a focus on production, storage, transportation, utilisation, safety and economic evaluation.
The course is delivered 100% online and on-demand, allowing participants to study at their own pace. Instructor support will be provided through the consultation forum on the Virtual Campus. Participants will have 120 days of access to the platform to complete the course.
Course Outline
This module covers the main technical aspects required to understand and evaluate hydrogen technologies across industrial, energy and mobility applications.
Participants will learn how to analyse hydrogen production routes, assess storage and transport alternatives, understand the use of hydrogen in fuel cells, turbines and industrial systems, and evaluate ammonia and methanol as energy carriers.
The course also introduces practical safety criteria, cost calculation concepts and business considerations for the implementation of hydrogen technologies in real industrial and energy-transition contexts.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the role of hydrogen in the energy transition and its decarbonisation challenges
- Analyse hydrogen production technologies, including SMR, electrolysis and alternative methods
- Evaluate hydrogen storage options, including gaseous, liquid, underground and chemical carrier solutions
- Understand hydrogen transport systems by road, pipelines and gas pipeline repurposing
- Apply basic fuel cell and turbine concepts for power and heat generation applications
- Identify hydrogen applications in industry, land transport, maritime transport and aviation
- Determine the main properties and risks of ammonia and methanol as energy carriers
- Interpret key safety criteria related to flammability, explosiveness and venting systems
- Calculate the levelised cost of hydrogen, storage and transport across different scenarios
- Explore business models and implementation strategies for hydrogen technologies
This course is intended for:
- Graduates or soon-to-be graduates interested in hydrogen technologies and industrial energy applications
- Designers involved in systems and equipment for industrial processes
- Freelancers working in technical, industrial or energy-related projects
- Technicians involved in calculation, selection, manufacturing, safety, quality or maintenance activities
- Engineers involved in the design, operation or evaluation of industrial systems and equipment
Prerequisite
Previous knowledge of hydrogen technologies is not required to attend this course. However, due to the technical scope of the content, a general engineering, technical or industrial background will help participants follow the practical concepts, calculations and application examples more effectively.
- Intermediate
The course follows a self-guided online methodology based on structured technical content and practical explanations. Participants progress through the modules at their own pace, supported by instructor guidance through the consultation forum.
The training approach is designed to help participants connect technical concepts with practical industrial applications, including hydrogen system selection, safety considerations, cost evaluation and implementation strategies.
