Formerly the Executive Chief Scientist and Director of Science and Technology at the British Geological Survey, he has advised the UK Government and international bodies on energy transition, carbon management, and sustainable industry. He has authored more than 110 peer-reviewed papers and several books, including a widely recognised work on carbon capture and storage. A visiting professor at multiple international universities, he is also actively involved in research on digital innovation and artificial intelligence in geoscience. Known for his engaging communication style and real-world insights, he brings a unique blend of scientific depth and policy experience to the discussion on industrial decarbonisation.
