About this Training Course
Embark on a comprehensive, jargon-busting exploration of the Oil and Gas industry with our custom-designed course. Participants will also be taken into a virtual reality field trip to examine reservoir and seal rocks. Then they will compete in teams to experiment with real rocks to predict and identify reservoir and seal, with a small prize for the winning team. A handy glossary of terms will accompany the training material, for attendee’s future reference.
Upon completion of the course, the participants will be able to:
- Understand the historical development of the oil and gas industry, from early exploitation to modern practices.
- Learn about the field life cycle, including exploration, appraisal, development, and abandonment phases.
- Develop knowledge of seismic surveying techniques and their interpretation, including 2D, 3D, 4D, and 4C surveys.
- Appreciate the basics of petroleum geology, including the formation of oil and gas, reservoir properties, and traps.
- Get an understanding how hydrocarbon volumes are calculated
- Familiarize oneself with the components of a field development plan, including well costs, facilities costs, operating costs, and economic considerations.
- Understand drilling operations, rigs and the drilling process, as well as completions
- Learn about production, subsurface facilities, production operations.
- Explore the midstream and downstream sectors of the oil and gas industry, including transportation, storage, logistics, and warehousing.
- Assess carbon capture technology, including its benefits, challenges, future potential, targets, and awareness.

She has conducted fieldwork and led fieldtrips in the US and many areas in the UK.
