Marine and Offshore > Fundamentals of LNG Shipping and Operations

About this Training Course

This course will provide an informed insight in choices and limitations of containment systems and how advances in propulsion technology, coupled with environmental legislation, are narrowing the parameters of asset operability and commercial viability.

It will review vessel operations and its interface with fixed and floating terminals, the legislative and day-to-day operations criteria that in turn affect safe and reliable cargo deliveries.

This course will be delivered in an interactive style, encouraging participants to learn and challenge how technological and commercial innovation is driving commoditisation and thus a much broader participation and optionality in the LNG cargo space.

After the completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of marine transport in the LNG value chain: Safe, Reliable and Cost-Effective
  • Learn how low-speed diesel engines have fundamentally altered LNG transport
  • Appreciate how these technological developments enable the wide-spread adoption of LNG, not only as a low carbon, but also as an economically viable fuel
  • Develop an understanding of the legislative framework applicable to LNG shipping, the complex interaction between construction and operations codes, rules and standards, inspection and assurance
  • Explore the opportunities for small-scale, bunkering and floating LNG facilities as the next phase in market growth
  • Discuss all your queries and challenges

This course will be of great value to anyone whose current or future role in the LNG value chain requires a sound understanding of the key technical and operational aspects and characteristics of LNG marine transport:

  • Cargo and freight operations staff in supply/trading organisations
  • Port and terminal operators / Regulators
  • Insurers, legal practitioners and those looking to finance LNG assets

This course will be delivered in an interactive style, encouraging participants to learn and challenge how technological and commercial innovation is driving commoditisation and thus a much broader participation and optionality in the LNG cargo space.
