About this Classroom Training
Gas transmission, the critical process of transporting natural gas through extensive pipeline networks, forms the backbone of energy distribution systems. This comprehensive 3-day training course provides both theoretical foundations and practical insights into the complexities of designing, operating, and maintaining high-pressure gas transmission pipelines and related facilities. Integrity management stands as a cornerstone of effective operations, requiring unwavering attention to gas pressure regulation, quality control, and mitigation of external stressors. Comprehensive risk assessments address crucial factors including population density, optimal routing strategies, and secure integration of system components.
Safe construction and operational excellence rely on meticulous practices such as proper welding techniques, non-destructive testing, and cathodic protection which is essential for ensuring system longevity and reliability. Implementing robust maintenance protocols guarantees continuous pipeline surveillance and prompt repairs, preventing potential failures before they occur. The course addresses critical industry challenges through proven methodologies, from strict adherence to regulatory standards to the strategic selection of durable materials that resist fatigue and environmental stressors.
Participants will develop a thorough understanding of gas transmission operations, enabling them to implement holistic approaches that ensure reliable and safe for natural gas delivery. By balancing technical expertise with regulatory compliance, this training equips professionals to meet the complex demands of modern gas transmission systems while maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency.
This course will be delivered face-to-face over 3-day, comprising of 8 hours per day, 1 hour lunch and 2 breaks of 15 minutes per day. Course Duration: 19.50 hours in total, 19.50 CPD points.
By the end of this 3 days training course, participants will be able to:
- Grasp the fundamental principles of gas transmission pipelines.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of design standards, particularly for pipelines and pressure regulating equipment, ensuring compliance and safety.
- Evaluate and maintain the integrity of operational pipelines, aligning practices with industry best practices.
- Implement sustainable and safe maintenance and inspection protocols for pipelines, promoting environmental responsibility and long-term reliability.
- Apply established and innovative approaches to effectively mitigate the risks of integrity loss, enhancing system resilience.
- Develop and execute effective response strategies for emergency scenarios, ensuring preparedness and minimising potential damage.
- Pipeline Managers overseeing all aspects of pipeline operations, including strategic planning, resource allocation, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Pipeline Engineers responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of gas transmission pipelines.
- Maintenance Engineers involving in the routine maintenance, inspection, and repair of pipelines and related equipment.
- Operational Professional monitoring the gas transmission system, ensuring safe and efficient gas flow.
- Operations Managers supervising operational teams and ensure the smooth functioning of the gas transmission system.
- Gas Transmission Operators directly involve in the day-to-day operation of gas transmission systems, controlling gas flow and responding to system changes.
- Integrity Engineers focusing on maintaining the integrity of pipelines through inspection, risk assessment, and implementation of preventative measures.
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Professionals ensuring that pipeline operations comply with safety and environmental regulations.
- Regulatory Compliance Officers responsible for ensuring that the gas transmission system complies with all applicable regulations and standards.

Your expert instructor is a highly experienced professional in gas transmission pipeline engineering, bringing four decades of expertise to the energy sector. His career is distinguished by leadership in the design and engineering of both natural gas and hydrogen gas networks. In natural gas field, he participated in gas pipeline integrity review in Indonesia, gas pipeline uprating study in Singapore and common standards in pipeline design across Australia. His responsibilities have encompassed asset risk management, ISO 55001 asset management system audits and training, pipeline and asset integrity, operational and maintenance excellence, as well as root cause failure investigations (RCA).
He worked first in Brisbane, Australia (February 2019 to August 2020), and then in Singapore (May 2015 to August 2020) as Principal Consultant at DNV GL. There, he led operational risk and integrity management initiatives, providing technical and operational expertise, developing risk methodologies, and sharing deep industry knowledge. His focus extended to strategic and operational business development in the downstream sector, with strengths in asset integrity management, pipelines in operation (AIMS & PIMS), safety, risk and failure investigation, and comprehensive audits.
Earlier in his career, he served as Engineering Compliance Manager at Lootah BCGas in Dubai, UAE, where he oversaw regulatory compliance for gas network design, operation, and maintenance. He managed the engineering department, delivered major projects, and provided technical guidance to operations and maintenance management. Additionally, at Northern Gas Networks in Sunderland, he held the roles of Integrity Engineer and Engineering Auditor, ensuring regulatory compliance and corporate assurance for gas systems.
His foundational experience was built at National Grid and British Gas/Transco, where he gained hands-on expertise as a Network Technician and Distribution Technician. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a commitment to technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and innovation in gas transmission pipeline engineering, making him a respected leader in the field.
