About this Training
This online, on-demand training program introduces the role of piping engineering within industrial projects, with emphasis on project phases, engineering disciplines, technical documentation, workflow, and the main activities performed by the piping discipline.
The course is delivered 100% online and on-demand, allowing participants to study at their own pace. Instructor support will be provided through the consultation forum on the Virtual Campus. Participants will have 90 days of access to the platform to complete the course.
Course Outline
This module covers the main technical aspects required to understand piping engineering activities within industrial projects, including project organization, EPC project structure, engineering phases, interdisciplinary relationships, and the documentation used by the piping discipline.
Participants will learn how to identify the main actors, contracts, deliverables, technical disciplines, communication interfaces, and design inputs involved in industrial plant projects, with particular focus on piping systems and their relationship with process, mechanical, civil, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
The course also includes practical exercises, technical vocabulary, conceptual questions, progress quizzes, summary videos, and lessons learned based on real industrial project experience.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the life cycle of industrial projects and their main execution phases
- Identify the key actors, contracts, and organizational structures used in EPC projects
- Recognize the sequence of engineering activities and the main deliverables by discipline
- Describe the relationship between engineering specialties and common interdisciplinary communication challenges
- Interpret the purpose of process diagrams, line lists, equipment lists, data sheets, and design criteria
- Understand the workflow of the piping discipline within industrial projects
- Use technical vocabulary and terminology related to piping engineering
- Evaluate the importance of engineering documentation, specifications, and quality control in project execution
- Recognize how piping design decisions affect the efficiency, safety, and reliability of industrial systems
This course is intended for:
- Graduates or soon-to-be graduates entering industrial engineering projects
- Designers involved in piping systems and industrial plant layouts
- Freelancers supporting engineering, design, or documentation activities
- Technicians working in manufacturing, maintenance, safety, quality, or plant operations
- Engineers involved in the calculation, design, selection, manufacturing, safety, quality, and maintenance of piping systems and equipment in industrial processes
Prerequisite
Previous knowledge of piping engineering or industrial project execution is not required to attend this course.
- Basic
The course follows a self-paced, hands-on methodology based on practical learning and technical reinforcement. The learning approach combines study notes, summary videos, exercises, conceptual review, progress quizzes, and instructor support through the Virtual Campus consultation forum.
