About this Training Course
This 3-day interactive training defines the supply chain process in the upstream oil and gas industry, equipping participants with a detailed understanding of the key supply chain and procurement functions and how they interact to support operational efficiency. The course establishes the linkages between procurement, logistics, and material management within an integrated supply chain framework tailored to exploration and production activities.
Participants will explore recommended practices in Purchasing, Expediting, Inspection, Shipping/Transportation, and Material Management, while gaining insight into the full purchasing process—from defining needs and selecting suppliers to negotiation, contract award, and vendor performance evaluation. The course also introduces strategic tools such as Category Management, Market Analysis, the Kraljic Portfolio Matrix, Sustainable Purchasing, and Frame Agreements to strengthen sourcing decisions and supplier relationships.
The course further examines how digital technologies and data-driven practices are transforming supply chain operations, with a focus on end-to-end tracking, data integration, real-time monitoring, and supplier collaboration to enhance visibility and responsiveness. Through discussions, case exercises, and practical applications, participants will develop the knowledge and confidence to manage procurement and supply chain activities effectively in upstream operations.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

- Access a deep knowledge of all the golden rules, practices and strategic tools of the purchasing process
- Understand the interaction between the different links of the Chain
This course has been initially designed for Buyers as it strongly focuses on the Purchasing Process. It will also be necessary to any party of the Supply Chain which includes Expediters, Stock Controllers, Transit Clerks. It is also recommended for those from the Logistic function who want to enlarge their domain of knowledge of the Supply Chain
