About this Classroom Training

In an era where data centres are pivotal in the functioning of modern technologies, their energy consumption and environmental impact have come under scrutiny. This course addresses two critical aspects of data centre management which are liquid cooling systems tailored for AI workloads and decarbonisation practices alongside heat reuse technologies. Data centres, particularly those designed for artificial intelligence (AI) applications, demand advanced cooling solutions due to their high-power densities and intensive computational requirements. Traditional air-cooling methods often fall short in efficiently managing the heat generated by these systems.

This course will delve into the principles of liquid cooling its various methodologies. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how these systems can enhance the performance, optimise energy consumption, and reduce operational costs. Simultaneously, the course will focus on the pressing need for decarbonisation the data centre sector. With data centres accounting for a significant portion of global electricity use, innovative strategies to capture and reuse waste heat are essential. Participants will explore technologies, learning how to implement effective decarbonisation strategies that not only comply with sustainability regulations but also enhance operational efficiency.

By the end of this training, participants will be equipped to develop actionable plans for integrating advanced cooling solutions and decarbonisation strategies for data centre operations, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet the challenges of modern energy-intensive environments.

This course will be delivered face-to-face over 4-day sessions, comprising of 8 hours per day, 1 hour lunch and 2 breaks of 15 minutes per day. Course Duration: 26 hours in total, 26 CPD points.

By the end of this 4 days training course, participants will be able to:

  • Recognise the necessity for liquid cooling systems in AI data centres, addressing the limitations of traditional air-cooling methods.
  • Distinguish between various liquid cooling methods, such as immersion cooling and direct-to-chip cooling, and its applications in high-performance computing.
  • Implement decarbonisation strategies that includes energy efficiency and renewable energy integration, to reduce the carbon footprint of data centres.
  • Investigate innovative methodologies for capturing and reusing excess heat generated by data centre operations, enhancing sustainability.
  • Acquire knowledge in the design, maintenance, and troubleshooting of liquid cooling systems to ensure reliable performance in data centres.
  • Formulate actionable plans for integrating advanced cooling solutions and decarbonisation strategies into existing data centre infrastructures.

This course has been designed for professional that are involved in optimising energy use, implementing cooling solutions, reuse heat to improve operational efficiency for data centres.

  • Energy Efficiency Engineers and Consultants focusing on optimising energy usage in data centres.
  • Sustainability Officers or Consultants advising organisations on strategies to reduce carbon footprints and implement sustainable practices for data centres.
  • Environmental Engineers focusing on reducing environmental impacts through sustainable practices.
  • Power Utility professionals with responsibilities in energy management and sustainable practices in infrastructure.
  • Cooling System Specialist specialising in the installation and maintenance of cooling solutions.
  • Data centre Infrastructure Engineers and Managers overseeing the infrastructure systems and ensuring optimal performance.
  • Project Managers overseeing projects related to the implementation of energy-efficient technologies and sustainability initiatives in data centres.
  • Network Engineers managing networking infrastructure requiring knowledge of cooling impacts on performance.
